Hi girls
This is a space in which I am inviting you to report on the progress of your films which you are going to hand in next term. All that I want from you is a brief weekly report on your progress. So there must be a date; a sentence or paragraph on what you have been doing; a comment on your projected plans
For Example
DATE: 1 September 2010
REPORT: Last week we decided that we are going to make our own films. At the time it seemed like a fabulous idea. It's now a week later and I have done nothing about it. I feel quite daunted by the whole idea.
PROJECTED PLANS: TODAY for homework I will come up with a couple of simple ideas for our film and present them to the group
Hi Ms Orpen and everyone:)
ReplyDeleteFirstly, this is such a wonderful and exciting project! I'm so happy you have given us this amazing opportunity and learning curve.
I'm bursting with ideas and excitment already!
so far, we have come up with a basic plot idea for our film. I thought about the idea and storyline with my friend, Julia Cosentino, in mind, as she would fit my character perfectly. I asked her yesterday if she would be willingly to help us out and im glad to say she said YES!
I also asked my friend Yeji to help us out by playing the piano for one of the scenes. She also agreed and the excitement of our group has now been even more widely spread.
I have also asked my dad if he was willing to take all of us to a place I have in mind to shoot the movie and thankfully he has agreed too.
We plan on shooting the movie in the holidays, which gives us some time to work on the script, music etc.
I'm so enthusiastic about this project and can't wait to put my ideas into action:)
Hey everyone :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I can't believe that it is a school requirement to blog! I think its the most amazing thing, and, like Kiara, I'm so excited. Thank you so much Ms Orpen for doing this.
Now, as far as making our movie goes ... there isn't much progress so far but we have all agreed to think of at least one topic this weekend. On Monday we will see what we've all come up with and hopefully have an idea on what we are going to do! We HAVE organised dates that we are all free and when we can do the filming so we definately aren't leaving it to the last minute!
This is going to be so much fun :)
Bonjour 10R (:
ReplyDeleteEvery lesson I think our whole class bursts with excitement, correct me if I'm wrong.
As Tarryn B has kindly mentioned we have opened our diaries and penciled in 'filming'. I'm so excited to work in a medium I'm not really used to.I think it allows my brain to seep in some useful information I know I'll use again, so thanks Ms Orpen.
As soon as a slightly good idea enters my brain you shall all be informed.
Have a brilliant weekend everyone
xx Alex
10Radical!
ReplyDeleteI cannot begin to explain how annoying the little voice in my head has been for the past I-don't-know-how-long about blogging...it's been nagging me to try blogging out for ages, but I really didn't know where and how to start! So here I am! Ready to learn and sheepish that I haven't been blogging since the beginning...it really is quite simple=)
My film-group friends and I spent the weekend together and had a brilliant time if I may say so myself...I'm glad that we've been given this project because I'm getting to know the people close to me much better.
This project is giving us the space to try and experience new things, even if, so far, they’ve been, falling on our butts on the ice(them not me! HAHAHA!), eating sushi, taking f o r e v e r to get dressed and speaking in ridiculous British accents with a bit of backwards Afrikaans (and then forgetting NOT to speak that way after 10 seconds), we’ve without a doubt enjoyed every second of it=)And I'm looking forward to the actual project...
Hope your weekend has been a good one 10Rads=)
Hey Guys XD
ReplyDeleteIsn’t this just absolutely awesome?!? Thanks to Mrs. Orpen our learning has just gone to the next level! I can't wait to get started and am extremely excited about the film project.
Unlike Kiara's group, we don't have a plot (or a clue) about what our film is going to be about. But I am brain-storming and my group is going to meet next week to discuss our ideas.
Get ready guys, because this is going to be so much fun! Over the next weeks we are all going to be our own directors and producers!! :)
So, let the camera's start rolling!!
XOXO
Layls
Hey all you fabulous people.
ReplyDeleteI really don't know if i am doing this properly. My group has sort of decided what we are going to do. (kind of a mix between Laylah and Kiara)
Thanks Ms Orpen for this learning opportunity.
xoxo

Ola lovely ladies
ReplyDeleteWow at this moment I have butterflies in my tummy from excitement. This is absolutely amazing.I think we all cannot wait to get productive and produce extraordinary films for our wonderful english teacher.
My group is thrilled to get going and put our ideas and words into actions. We have a strong feeling about something deep, dark and gloomy.
Hard to pull off but exciting as well.
We have organised days on which filming will begin and we are all really looking forward to this project.
Like everyone else has said, thank you Ms Orpen for this great opportunity, we know its going to be worth the hard work and enriching.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and doing some bubbly brainstorming :)
Hello Mrs Orpen and my wonderful friends in Grade 10R!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this cool?!? Film project.... BLOGGING!!Man are we gonna have FUN =] Thank you Mrs Orpen for this learning opportunity!
Now... Film Project... there isn't much progress, but we all have agreed that we will think of some ideas and get together soon and share them.
Have fun with the film project Ladies!

Hello 10R and Ms Orpen :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with what everyone has said, this project is awesome, blogging is great, blah blah blah. :)
What I would like to add is that I feel extremely privilleged that our school has the resoures to pull something like this off, and that OUR class is the one assigned to doing it.
Since the beginning of last year most of us have been together and we have become a sort of weird, sometimes dysfunctional family.. but that's the way we like it right? :D
From singing 'In the Jungle' in maths class to unsuccessfully trying to bunk classes, we've been together always. I'm so glad this is yet another thing I get to do with my fantastic class!!
When it comes to the actual project, my group mates(Jess D, Hannah and Tayla) and I had a meeting after school today to discuss our ideas and thoughts on how to go about pulling this project off successfully.
We have decided on who we would like to act for us and the next step is to approach these people and then finalise our script.
Hopefully next week we'll have some feedback about that :)
AMPED!!!! :D

Haha i just looked back and realised nobody is adhering to the format Ms Orpen gave us.
ReplyDeleteOh well :)
Hi Everyone (:
ReplyDeleteOkay, so this is totally off of the topic of our film projects but I just have to say this; Ms Orpen - You are so COOL!
This idea of blogging for a school project is new and different and something that i have never heard of being done before. It's made me really excited to get started on my film project!
Sigh... We're going to make a movie :D
I feel like I haven't clue yet as to how we're going to get there, but I'm really keen to learn and so am happy that we have this blog to follow.
So far, our film could be about anything.
But my group (Sam, Alex, Tarryn) and I have all set dates for when to get together so we can get cracking, and we have all been brainstorming some ideas on our own.
We'll probably be getting together sometime soon to discuss them and make more plans.
Ah, I'm very excited to see everyones films at the end of this project. What a brilliant idea this was.
Thanks Ms Orpen!
Kimbo (:
Hallo guys!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I agree with Kimbo Ms Orpen I think its so amazing what you are doing with this class, teaching us to use our creative skills again and to think for ourselves :) Its really unusual for me to try anything other than what I have to do, and thats something I need to work on :P But you hav inspired me to try new things! Like kick-boxing! okay thats off topic :)
so anyway im doing the film project with nina tayla and jess and we are thinking of doing a comedy with some boys from WBHS :)

al0o0 every0ne:)
ReplyDeletewow. this is so weird. who would of thought that blogging would be part of our homework.
anyway,as far as our film project goes, we already have a plot and its really cool. i cant wait for the holidays to begin so we can start filming. its going to be as if we shooting a real movie with all the 'lights, camera, action.' Ahhh! this is so exciting.
you know ms Orpen, I never use to like english until a couple of months ago. you really do make english and learning fun with all the 'experiments' you do with us. im really going to miss it next year once AS levels start. WORK WORK WORK ;/
(P.S im actually suppose to be doing my MUCH ADO oral right now but blogging sounded more fun. BUT do not fear, I shall go do it now)
jes xx
Hola Amigos!!
ReplyDeleteMy group has come to an interesting decision regarding our film project. We have decided to attempt and investigate doing a music video for the film project... Nothing's finalised and we could change our minds any minute, but it's a start and it's good. We even have a song in mind. (i'm not telling :])
If we comtinue with our idea, we will need to organise a cast (i have people in mind)and do a test run. Cassi, Brittany and Nabeela are awesome people to work with!!
I'm also working on my Much Ado oral and got a bit distracted...anyhoo, need to get back to work.
By the Way, BLOGGING IS FUN!!! Tarryn, you are amazing, lovie. You inspire all of us.
OK, i'm going to do my oral now...
Chow chow

i've also decided to take a video i've already made and try to edit it...just to see what i can do, what works, what doesn't and make sure that i'm not completely lost when we get to the real deal...maybe we should all try? yes. we should. i challenge you!
ps-i'm only telling you guys this so that there's no way i change my mind or put it off...

ReplyDeleteHii!
ReplyDeleteS0o..Im finally here! Turns out I didn't need someone to show me how to blog after all! Geez this is s0o cool!
Well, what can I say that hasn't been said about a hundred times already?? Thank you tenfold for this amazing step into modernised teaching! Not only is this extremely exciting, but its a learning experience too. The people I brag to are green with envy! :):):)
Apart from discussing our ideas, we (Kiara, Rayne, Jessica and I) are aware of our plot, setting, dialogue (or lack there of) and cast. Time for long-shots, spotlights and high angles! Awesome vibes! This holiday is definitely going to be a grreeaat one! :):):)

hey again guys
ReplyDeleteso far there's been no further progress with actually making the film, or writing the script, or thinking of the music ,or anything to that effect.
we have, however considered the possibility of taking a song that kind of has a storyline and turning that into a story that can be acted out.
to all you people who have actually started with something, i look up to you.
hope you all had fabulous weekends
xoxo nuha
Hey again...i dont know where my other comment went...its somewhere...
ReplyDeletebut this weekend we got a lot done and have got our ideas sorted:) we have the cover down and have approached the people that we needed to and they have agreed to help us out :)

ReplyDeleteour group is totally cramming this holidays, since we don't really have a script. we have a storyline but, so far, it's all only in our heads but, we have very eager actors and actresses.
